Welcome

The iMarCo GDR and the COST Action SEA-UNICORN present

the 6th International Marine Connectivity Conference

December 6-8, 2021, Paris, France

The 6th International Marine Connectivity Conference is a joint event, which will gather participants from both the iMarCo and the SEA-UNICORN initiatives.

This conference marks the start of a new and exciting stage in the development of an international network for promoting collaborative projects among European scientists interested in the study of marine connectivity. This effort started in 2010 when the French GDR Marco was launched to promote marine connectivity research at the national level. This network became an international consortium in 2016 with the creation of the iMarco GDRi (https://wwz.ifremer.fr/gdrmarco/), gathering scientists from France, UK, Belgium and Greece, and covering a broad spectrum of marine science disciplines including physical oceanography, microchemistry, genetics and evolutionary ecology, behaviour, tagging, fisheries and aquaculture.

iMarCo efforts in turn led to the new COST Action Unifying Approaches to Marine Connectivity for improved Resource Management for the Seas (SEA-UNICORN  -2020-2024; https://www.sea-unicorn.com/), which further extended those initiatives by bringing together a large, international and interdisciplinary community of scientists, stakeholders and policymakers, from more than 100 organisations across Europe and beyond. In the coming years, the network will foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and share expertise at local, regional, and international levels to advance knowledge and unify concepts and approaches in the emerging field of Marine Functional Connectivity (MFC). The Action will also provide the data needed to support the conservation and sustainable management of the seas.

WHERE?

The Conference will take place in the Jardin des Plantes of the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle, 57 rue Cuvier, Paris.

Jardin des plantes

The Jardin des Plantes is near the Austrelitz train station and the Metro stations Jussieu. Using the RER and/or the Metro is the easiest and fastest way to reach the Jardin des Plantes if you arrive at one of the 2 Paris airports (Orly or Roissy) – just buy tickets for Paris. The same if you arrive by train in one of the Paris’ stations, the metro will bring you to the Jardin des Plantes easily. If you prefer to come by car… good luck!

The conference will be in the Amphithéatre Verniquet, also called “Grand Amphithéatre du Muséum”.
